This Privacy Policy explains how CSE Portfolio (https://cse-portfolio-new.vercel.app/) collects, uses and protects information when you use the website and app.

1. Who we are
CSE Portfolio is a personal-finance web application for tracking Colombo Stock Exchange shares. Contact details are on the Contact page.
2. Information we collect
Account information
If you create an account we store the email address (and optional display name) you provide, a securely hashed password, and recovery-code material needed to restore access. We do not store your password in plain text.
Portfolio and app data
Holdings, transactions, dividends, settings and related data you enter are saved to your account so they can sync across devices. A local copy may also be kept in your browser (for offline use). You can export or delete this data from Settings.
Technical and usage data
Like most websites, our hosting provider (e.g. Vercel) and infrastructure may log standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, device type, pages requested and timestamps. This is used for security, reliability and abuse prevention.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and local storage that are necessary for the app to work (for example session authentication and theme preference). These are essential for the service you requested.
Google AdSense and advertising cookies
This site uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google and its partners may use cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie and similar technologies) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites, and to measure ad performance.

We do not sell your personal information.

We share data only in these limited cases:
- Service providers — hosting, database and infrastructure providers that process data on our behalf

6. Data retention and deletion
Account and portfolio data are kept while your account remains active. You can delete your account and associated portfolio data from Settings inside the app. Technical logs are retained only as long as needed for security and operations.
7. Security
We use HTTPS, password hashing and access controls appropriate for a small web application. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; please use a strong unique password and keep your recovery code safe.
8. Children’s privacy
The service is intended for users aged 18 and over (or the age of majority in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. International users
The site may be hosted in regions outside Sri Lanka. By using the service you understand that your information may be processed in the country where our providers operate, subject to their safeguards and applicable law.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Effective date” at the top will be revised when changes are published. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
